Thank you for visiting our website. I am very proud to be the superintendent of Deer Lodge Schools. Our district sits in the pristine mountain valley of Powell County in the great community of Deer Lodge. Deer Lodge Schools is a K-8 school district consisting of three different schools: OD Speer, K-2; Granville Stuart, 3-6; and EF Duvall, 7-8. I am going on my fifth year as superintendent of schools. When I applied for this position, it was about more than just employment; it was about bringing my children to a district that could challenge and facilitate them as learners. I truly believe that is what we do at Deer Lodge Schools. We have great teachers that truly care about student success in academics as well as emotional and social development, and our staff goes above and beyond to support all aspects of our school day. We also enjoy strong commitment and support for education from the Deer Lodge community; from parents to business owners and community members, we continue to work together to do what’s best for kids.
I was thinking about our duty to students and what our goal is. That is how I came up with this slogan or mantra that I believe encompasses what we do as educators everyday: WE WORK WITH STUDENTS TODAY TO BUILD SUCCESSFUL, EDUCATED, AND RESPONSIBLE ADULTS FOR TOMORROW.
