This is a video describing the art department at Towson University.

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education offers the Bachelor of Fine Art and the Bachelor of Science in art, Bachelor of Science in art education, the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Art in art history, the Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in art (studio), Master of Education (M.Ed.) in art education, and a graduate certificate in interactive media design. The B.A. is available in the art, art history and art education majors and mirrors the B.S. degree requirements, but includes the foreign language requirement through the intermediate level (202 or equivalent). The Art + Design major offers 9 concentrations: Ceramics: Digital Art + Design; Graphic Design; Illustration; Interdisciplinary Object Design; Metalsmithing + Jewelry; Painting, Drawing and Printmaking; Photo Imaging; and Sculpture. Students participate in study abroad, internships, exhibitions, and a monthly lecture series.

The Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education works to provide a broad understanding of the arts across disciplines, cultures, styles, and media, to encourage students to embrace new technologies and materials, develop creativity and critical thinking, and seek out global perspectives.

The Department offers students:

  • a professionally-oriented arts education taught by faculty recognized as accomplished teachers, scholars, practicing artists and designers, and leaders in their disciplines;

  • a unique metropolitan perspective, taking full advantage of Towson University’s location and liberal arts tradition and providing opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary learning.
