The Mathematics Leadership Corps (MLC) is a collaborative partnership between Loyola Marymount University and the School of Education’s Center for Math and Science Teaching System (LMU-CMAST), the Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING, and the Culver City Unified School District, with generous support from the Leonetti/O’Connell Family Foundation and the Louis L. Borick Foundation.
Learn about this very effective collaborative partnership that seeks to guide district implementation of the recently adopted Common Core Standards in mathematics by working closely with teacher leaders and administrators and providing professional development that promotes mathematical thinking, deep conceptual understanding, and mastery of fluency skills.
This session will feature partners of the collaborative:
- Gregory Nicholson, Director of Advancement, Project Tomorrow
- Kathy Clemmer, Director of the Mathematics Leadership Corps Partnership, Loyola Marymount University.
- Kati Krumpe, Assistant Superintendent, Culver City Unified School District
This series includes five meetings in 2014. Each meeting builds on information and discussion from earlier sessions, so we encourage participants to plan to attend all five meetings or to send a representative from your organization if you are unable to attend. The final meeting in this series will be held in December 2014 on Next Generation Science Standards (more to come).
About In Focus:
Tackling an emerging trend or policy issue of concern to philanthropy, SCG’s In Focus program series convenes funders to learn about a specific topic, exchange ideas about how philanthropy can address the evolving issue, and share updates about their work. By bringing together funders over the course of one year, In Focus provides a platform for funders to address key issues through collaboration and action.
