The Public Education Foundation, in collaboration with education and business leaders throughout Nevada, has laid the groundwork and is developing a strategic plan to design, implement, and manage a state-of-the-art Leadership Institute for school trustees, superintendents, principals, and central office administrators. We are identifying the attributes of successful educational leaders and working to develop programs for principals, administrators, and superintendents which will strengthen their skills to lead our nation’s schools.
Scholarships provide students the opportunity to pursue higher educational goals and in many cases make the college and university experience accessible to students who might not otherwise dream of a college education. Through donor-funded scholarship funds, the Foundation awarded nearly $600, 000 to Clark County public high school seniors in 2012 - and has awarded over $6.9 million dollars since the program's inception.
The Public Education Foundation is initiating a new service-learning project to help teens discover that they can make a positive difference in their community by providing them with a unique perspective. Established in 2008, We R Community catapults high school students into the world of philanthropy and nonprofit organizations by transforming the teens into donors. The program introduces students to the importance of leadership, service, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector by giving them the ability to fund programs they choose.
