Free Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing on Campus
In the spring semester, the Health Education Office collaborates with SHS and the Connecticut Department of Public Health to host the annual STI testing event Get Yourself Tested (GYT). This national STI awareness campaign encourages young people to get tested and is funded by the CDC. This event is hosted every April on the UConn/Storrs campus where up to 200 people can get tested.
Free Rapid HIV Testing
The Rainbow Center is the UConn/Storrs campus spot to get a free and anonymous Rapid HIV test which allows for results to be known within the half-hour! The test is free of charge, thanks to the generous support of the Hartford Gay & Lesbian Health Collective and open to all, however there are only a few slots! No appointments will be taken due to the need for anonymity. Arrive early because testing is provided on a first come, first served basis. The Rainbow Center is located in Room 403 on the fourth floor of the Student Union. Also, there is free HIV testing at the local department of health. Feel free to consult for test sites in the area.
